Inhalation Anthrax

Glossary - Words that Year 8s may not understand, explained in a way that Year 8s will understand.

Words - No particular order:

Prognosis: The likely course of a medical condition/what's likely to happen: "The prognosis for terminal cancer is death."

Pulmonary: Fancy word for diseases to do with the lungs, e.g. pulmonary anthrax = anthrax that's inhaled.

Respiratory distress: Condition where one cannot get enough oxygen into their lungs.

Hemorrhagic mediastinitis: Inflammation of the tissue in the lungs. Caused by pulmonary anthrax.

Inflammation: The protective response of tissue in the body again what it percieves as a threat.

Pulmonary edema: Condition where fluid accumulates in your lungs.

Bacillius anthracis
: The bacterium that causes the anthrax toxin.
